This delay line offers all the features of the Model PDL-10A and adds a delay range extension. Standard delay range extensions are 1.25 ns, 2.50 ns, 5.0 ns, 10 ns, 20 ns, 40 ns, 80 ns, and 100 ns. Custom delay range extensions are also available based on customer specifications. The Model PDL-30A is the most popular mechanical delay line instrument we manufacture, offering wide bandwidth, high resolution, and an extended delay range.

The 625 ps Electro-Mechanical Trombone delay line is directly accessible for wideband applications to 18 GHz, or 40 Gb/s NRZ. For delay range extensions above 625 ps, very precisely cut semi-rigid coaxial cables and microwave relays are combined with the Mechanical Trombone unit to achieve a longer delay length while maintaining a resolution of 0.5 ps. Two relays per binary section are required for each step length. A maximum of 15 step lengths can be specified. Each step length is typically specified in binary steps, e.g. 625 ps, 1.25 ns, 2.50 ns, 5.00 ns, etc.. The sum of the step lengths is the total delay range extension. NOTE: The PDL-30A has been superseded by our newer PDL-100A Series of instruments offering additional features and functionality.  The model PDL-30A will no longer be available after June 30, 2006.
